The purpose of the .NET Engineer is to create amazing .NET web applications for Questrade. You are a professional, experienced in business logic architecture and object-oriented programming for middle and large web-based information retrieval systems and database-driven applications.

To summarize, as a .NET Engineer, you will collaborate with the user interface team, .NET developers and architects to design and develop functionally rich, robust, user friendly .NET web applications as defined by business requirements.

You will design, develop, and implement client-facing and internal web applications using .NET specifications and proven design patterns, thoroughly analyzing and documenting the software specifications for both. Designing new application features and functionality, writing APIs, scalability and maintainability improvements will be your responsibility too. You will interact with user interface designers, database architects and .NET developers to elicit, define, analyze and document requirements for new applications and will evaluate (with recommendations) for any additional infrastructure or software required to support the applications. You will also provide support and enhancements to existing production applications. You're a believer in continuous improvement! You will be involved in defining and implementing best practices, standards and procedures including quality and delivery methodologies. Throughout the life cycle of software products, you will ensure compliance with documented software processes and procedures. You will provide your expertise and support to our multi-tier environment. Bring out the team spirit to assist and actively support other team members on multiple projects. You will also proactively report to team leads on task status and potential issues.

You possess a strong understanding of object-oriented (OOP) development. You also have hands-on experience and proficient knowledge of web technologies such as HTML, DHTML, JavaScript, .NET, ASP.NET, ADO.NET, C#/VB.NET, Web Services, WCF, SOAP and XML, database servers including Sybase, MS SQL Server 2005/2008, SSIS, SSRS, performance tuning, stored procedures, functions (PL/T-SQL) and data warehouse, system environments (Microsoft ASP.NET/.NET framework on Windows 2008 server), and tools such as MS Visual Studio, Subversion, and MS Team Foundation. You gained this all through your degree or diploma and 4+ years of work experience in web-based technologies. You have worked with unit testing frameworks and performance application tuning. To help you hit the ground running, you possess an understanding of the trading life cycle, risk management, financial, operational and regulatory considerations. You have great communication, time-management (nobody misses a game, certainly not because of you!), prioritization, customer-service, and relationship management skills and are comfortable presenting, facilitating communication, and negotiating. Your problem-solving and decision-making skills are excellent too. You have a hawk’s eye for details, even under pressure. You take ownership of tasks and drive them through to completion with senior team member supervision. Project success matters to you and you're willing to assist the team in any way to ensure it, including working flexible hours. You competently follow specific guidelines, criteria, and protocols.
