The purpose of the UX Designer is to design storyboards, create prototypes, write functional specifications and work on front-end development for business development and platform projects. They will create simple yet meaningful interfaces for our software and websites. Collaborating with other designers, business analysts, subject matter experts and developers, they will continue to grow and take on new challenges. Up for a challenge? What’s it like working as a UX Designer at Questrade? In a nutshell, as a UX Designer, you will design interactive solutions that effectively address business and brand requirements, technical constraints, research findings, and the audiences' processes, tasks and goals. You will also work with other teams for their implementation, so don’t leave your team work skills at home! Need more details? Keep reading... In addition to designing solutions, you will also design and maintain storyboards and mock-ups to ensure what’s on your mind is what’s being created. You will write user interface specifications to describe functionality and use case scenarios as well as develop interactive prototypes with compelling user experiences. Give wings to your designs! Researching the market, competitors, latest tools, methodologies, practices and trends will be useful too. You will conduct usability testingincluding creating task lists, observing users, compiling feedback and findings, making recommendations and producing reports. Working with developers, you will ensure that designs can be implemented with integrity. Your expertise and time-management abilities will help provide accurate time estimates and meet deadlines, while your polished communication skills will come in handy to clearly communicate and present designs to managers, marketing, business analysts and development teams. So are YOU our next UX Designer? You are if… You have a web portfolio to show off your strong understanding of user-centered and application design. Yourundergraduate degree, diploma or post-graduate studies or 2+ years or related experience certainly helped hone your skills! Your industry experience, ideally designing user interfaces for web and desktop applications keeps your skills polished, as you practice user-centered design methodology with good usability/human factors skills. You also have experience withwireframe and prototyping tools such as MS Visio, Axure, Balsamiq and SketchFlow, and knowledge of Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and Flash. You have a hawk eye for details, passion for improving design, you love to learn, and thrive in a dynamic environment like ours! You take ownership, driving tasks to completion by multitasking and working flexible hours when required.
