Research Summer Intern – Cloud Management Services Group IBM Almaden Research Center (San Jose, CA) The Cloud Management Services group is looking for a summer intern interested in working on Platform as a Service (PaaS) systems at the IBM Almaden Research Center in San Jose, CA. Our group’s research focuses on improving cloud services to speed up development & deployment of applications in the cloud as well as to simplify infrastructure and application management (e.g. reduce costs, maintain/improve performance, provide fault tolerance, scale, etc.). We are looking for candidates with a background or interest in distributed systems, in particular resiliency and recovery of PaaS applications. The work takes place in a small team and includes investigation and original innovation in application resiliency (e.g. distributed application checkpointing) and proof of concept development (e.g. on IBM’s Bluemix PaaS system) with the goal of submitting the work to a top journal or conference. Candidates pursuing a Master’s or a Ph.D. in Computer Science or a related area are preferred.
