Ever Challenged Union: exploring ways out of the crises 16th annual UACES Student Forum Research Conference

Call for Papers
Ever Challenged Union: exploring ways out of the crises
16th annual UACES Student Forum Research Conference
Queen’s University Belfast, 29-30 June 2015

In the last few years the European Union has been faced with a growing number of crises: a financial and economic crisis, a continuing legitimacy and democratic crisis and growing external crises with rising tensions between the Ukraine and Russia and a worsening climate crisis. We invite abstract submissions on how this “Ever Challenged Union” may or may not come about: are there ways out the crises? Has the EU changed in answer to these crises and is it on the right path?
This two-day research conference aims to provide a friendly environment in which postgraduate students can gain experience of presenting research and develop contacts with other researchers in their field. The conference is aimed at research students of all levels and proposals are welcome from students working in the field of European Studies within various disciplines. The research conference offers an ideal introduction to the UACES community.

Call for papers
The deadline for submitting paper abstracts (200 words) or a panel proposal is 1 April 2015. The call for papers is now open and we encourage submission from students at all stages of their European Studies PhDs. Paper and panel submission forms and further details about the conference can be viewed athttp://uaces.org/events/sfevents/research2015/

Funding available
UACES is able to offer up to 100.00 GBP towards travel expenses for those on direct flights to Belfast and up to 160.00 GBP towards travel expenses for those requiring connecting flights to Belfast. We can offer this funding to up to 45 students - the funding will be allocated following a competitive call for papers.
Paper-givers who are accepted for the conference will be informed by the end of April 2015 and expected to provide a completed version of the paper (6,000-8,000 words) for publication on the UACES website by 3 June 2015. Please read the full terms and conditions of funding before submitting an abstract.
This conference is being organised with the support of the Erasmus + programme of the European Union.
