The Department of Finance at Wayne State University School of Business Administration is inviting applications for admission into the finance doctoral program for the cohort starting in fall 2017.

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION: The Wayne State University finance Ph.D. track prepares students to become faculty members at major research universities. The curriculum focuses heavily on corporate finance and asset pricing with a special emphasis on empirical research in these areas. The finance doctoral program provides full funding. Enrolled candidates receive tuition remission plus a stipend of $18,000 per year. A heath care plan and other benefits are also offered. The total package for doctoral students amounts to approximately $36,000 per year. Additional funding for conference travel expenses for doctoral students is also available. The structure is nominally two years of coursework followed by two years of dissertation work. Previous graduates have published in high quality journals, such as the The Accounting Review, Journal of Banking and Finance, Financial Management, Journal of Applied Corporate Finance within a year of graduation. APPLICATION GUIDELINES: The minimum qualifications for completing an application are as follows:
- An undergraduate degree is required. Candidates with a master's degree in finance, economics, engineering or mathematics are especially encouraged to apply. SAS or STATA programming ability will be an additional advantage.
- Official GMAT score. Enrolled students have about 700 average GMAT score. GRE score may be substituted for GMAT score.
- Evidence of English language proficiency.
- A statement of research interests.
