6th Edition of Balkans Beyond Borders Short Film Festival

Until the 10th of July young film makers from the Balkan region and beyond can send their films for the 6th BBB Short Film Festival under the title “Living in… “City-mmetry”: Geometrical representations and urbanism”. We are pleased to announce that we have received a great deal of inspiring films. As we always want the best representation of all Balkan countries in the Festival, at this stage we are specially looking forward to films from Albania, FYROM and Montenegro.

This year BBB gets inspired by the city, the urban life and the geometrical representations identified in it.

Every day, we draw our personal route among the city’s blocks designing our own reality.

Every city has its shapes: blocks and buildings, streets and parks but also empty spaces that reflect symmetries, asymmetries, geometries, order and disorder

Every city has its flows: we meet and get separated, connect and disconnect transforming the balance of our relationships

Every city is a mirror: changes, synergies, anonymity, abandonment, all reflected in the city's facades

Every city is a point of reference: a common space for multiple identities that develop and get defined by historical, urban, political and societal memories

Our Cities are here beyond borders, history and social changes. They constitute our environment, they are our stories

Let the city and the geometrical representations you identify inspire you and share with us your story of “City-mmetry”.

The 6th Edition of Balkans Beyond Borders Short Film Festival will take place in Thessaloniki in October 2015.

After five successive years, BBB gives the opportunity one more time to the next generation of film makers to create, share and present their films, meet and collaborate. We invite young artists up to the age of 35 from the Balkan region and beyond to get inspired by this year’s topic and send their short film. We accept all type of film genres with duration up to 30 minutes. The main objective of BBB is to motivate young people to make use of their creativity in order to reflect on issues of concern in their region.

About the organization

Balkans Beyond Borders (BBB) is a nongovernmental organisation formed by six young professionals from the broader region of SE Europe. It is a regional NGO, with its head office in Athens, organising since 2010 multiple activities throughout the region and around the EU. It seeks to promote youth mobility and youth cooperation in the Balkans through “dialogue”, “interaction” and “innovative thinking”.

BBB stands for creative cooperation between cultures and individuals, personal empowerment and development, freedom of thought and a common future for all Europeans, beyond borders, across disciplines and cultures. Believing that the region’s socio-economic development requires stability, cooperation and modernisation, Balkans Beyond Borders invests in the region’s young people. The organisation through its activities aims to contribute to the region’s better future and Europeanisation. Moreover, BBB works towards the close collaboration between local festivals, film centers and film workshops in the Balkan region aiming to create an Inter- Balkan network able to promote efficiently the work of young artists of the region and beyond, in order to familiarize its audience to the Balkan culture and its diversity.
