Postdoctoral fellowship in Applied Probability, USA

Dr. Philip Ernst at The Department of Statistics at Rice University in Houston, TX invites applications for a postdoctoral fellowship in Applied Probability. The position begins (at latest) on August 1st, 2016, although a earlier appointment dates are also possible. The initial contract is for one year.

ELGIBILITY: To be eligible, you must have 1) A Ph.D. in Probability/Applied Probability before the date of appointment. 2) Your Ph.D. must have been obtained on or after January 2014. Only the very top candidates will be considered.

STRONG preference will be given to candidates whose research interests are either in stochastic optimization and stochastic control, stochastic calculus for applications in financial mathematics, excursion theory, optimal stopping time theory, and/or convexity/linear programming approaches for working with martingales. The postdoctoral fellowship is a 100% research position. There are no teaching responsibilities. This being said, the ability to both present and to effectively convey research ideas is critical.
