13:54 EUENGAGE Automated Text Analysis Workshop in Amsterdam
This is just a friendly reminder that the deadline for submitting a proposal for the EUENGAGE Automated Text Analysis Workshop in Amsterdam is approaching soon. Interested scholars are invited to submit a paper proposal until 1 March. The EUENGAGE Automated Text Analysis Workshop is a 2-day workshop on text analysis at which best practices in applied work, new methodologies, and findings from text analysis are exchanged and discussed. In particular, we are interested in substantive applications of text analysis within the topics (broadly defined) of public opinion, elite communication or party politics in the EU. The workshop is organized under the umbrella of EUENGAGE, a Horizon-2020 funded program, which studies the changing nature of elite-mass interactions in the European Union, and for which the analysis of (elite-generated) text is of central importance (see http://www.euengage.eu/ for more information). It will take place 21-22 June 2016 at the University of Amsterdam, starting 21 June around noon and ending 22 June around the same time. This will leave scholars who also plan on attending EPSA (23-25 June) enough time to travel to Brussels, which is a comfortable 2-hour train ride from Amsterdam with trains leaving every hour. More information can be found here: http://www.gijsschumacher.nl/uncategorized/call-for-papers-text-analysis-workshop-euengage-21-22-june-2016/ Proposals for papers (200-word max) can be sent to h.j.m.schoonvelde@vu.nl (Martijn Schoonvelde), keeping in mind the 1 March deadline. Acceptance notifications will be sent out on 1 April. NB: A selected number of travel grants (max 500EUR) will be available for junior scholars presenting a paper at the workshop. Questions about the workshop can be directed to either Gijs ( g.schumacher@uva.nl) or Martijn (h.j.m.schoonvelde@vu.nl)
