The 8th Nordic Working Life Conference will take place in Tampere 2–4 November 2016. The organizers would like to thank those who have submitted their abstracts already. However, due to several requests the call for papers submission deadline has been extended to 31 March. (http://www.uta.fi/yky/NWLC2016/cfp.html). Thematic sessions will be organised around the following topics. 1) Employment, unemployment and labour market policies 2) Working with technologies in the service sector 3) Practice-Based Approaches to Working Life Studies 4) Changing patterns of labour migration in Nordic working life 5) New wave of knowledge work – challenge or a chance? 6) Emergent segments of precarious workers in the Nordic countries 7) Sustainability and human resource management 8) Having a hard time retiring? The role of working life in the retirement process 9) Improving The Psycho-Social Working Environment: Policy, regulation and programmes 10) Coping with Ignorance in the Non-Knowledge Society 11) Longitudinal analysis in working life research 12) Wicked Times in Health and Social Care: Who cares for workers of care? 13) Alternative careers as responses to transformations of working life 14) Age and Life Course at Work 15) The effects of New Public Management on higher education 16) Within and beyond emotional work 17) Workers, Employers and State in the making of the Nordic Models 18) Work-life dynamics 19) Learning and development in supporting renewal, productivity and well-being at work 20) Organisation, technology and work – strategy, negotiation and application 21) Health, work ability, functional capacity and exclusion from working 22) Flexibility and Security in Post-Industrial Labour Markets 23) Performance and quality of working life 24) Open session The main theme of the conference is “Hard Times?” The discussions will be facilitated by the distinguished keynote speakers: Carin Håkansta (SWE), Arne L.
