Technological innovation and new regulations drive continuous changes in retail and whole-sale payment systems and other financial market infrastructures. To understand and shape these changes, research on the economics of payments is important and will have a bearing on many areas of economics, including industrial organization, behavioral, monetary, and regulatory economics. This Economics of Payments conference offers an opportunity for central bank and academic economists to present theoretical and applied work and share views on a variety of topics related to the functioning and risks of payment and settlement systems in a changing regulatory and technological environment. The Deutsche Bundesbank – as one of the providers, users and overseers of Europe’s real-time gross settlement system TARGET2 and the securities settlement platform TARGET2-Securities – actively fosters research and analysis in the field of payment and settlement sys-tems. Therefore, the Deutsche Bundesbank is pleased to host the conference Economics of Payments VIII and welcomes all interested researchers and economists at its conference center in Eltville (Germany) to present and discuss their studies with the following focus: • Innovation in payment and settlement systems • Interlinkage of financial market infrastructures • Collateral and liquidity management • Instant payments • Blockchain and related technologies • Risk management and security of financial market infrastructures • Payment behaviour • Effects of regulation on financial market infrastructures https://www.dropbox.com/s/6jvyyjzwto6b0q4/EconofPayments_CfP%20.pdf?dl=0 | |
