Open Ph.D. Student Position, Reference number: IV-352/16 Your Profile: We are looking for a highly qualified candidate with a M.Sc. in Computer Science (or related areas). The candidate must have strong analytical and programming skills, a good command of the English language, and a genuine interest in designing, building and publishing new approaches and systems to manage Big Data. The candidate should have a strong background in information systems and additionally in one of the following areas: - Machine Learning/ Data Mining - Data Mining - Data Cleaning - Data Visualization The position includes teaching activity of 4 hours per week. Research in the Big Data Management Group: Our research group solves problems in the realm of big data variety and veracity and as such encompasses topics, such as data integration, data discovery, data extraction, ad data profiling. Currently, we are working on building a new data-driven data integration frameworks that leverage data profiling and user-feedback for generating customized data integration workflows. Furthermore, we are working on incremental algorithms in the realm of data integration and data profiling that uphold the inter-active nature of the workflow assembling system on large datasets. Our group is part of the Berlin big data Center and affiliated with the DIMA group at the TU Berlin. Furthermore, we have vivid international collaborations with leading research institutions around the world (see our recent partners and publications). We offer a competitive salary according to the TVL 13 level of the German public sector.
