Founded in 1640, the University of Helsinki (UH) is one of the best multidisciplinary research universities in the world. In the University of Helsinki doctoral training is organized into four doctoral schools and 32 doctoral programmes (https://university.helsinki.fi/en/research/doctoral-education/doctoral-schools-and-programmes) that cover all disciplines and doctoral candidates of the University. The Doctoral Programmes of the Doctoral School in Health Sciences invite applications for UH-funded DOCTORAL CANDIDATE POSITIONS for a maximum of a 4-year-period starting in 2017: · Doctoral Programme in Biomedicine (DPBM) · Doctoral Programme in Brain & Mind (B&M) · Doctoral Programme in Clinical Research (KLTO) · Doctoral Programme in Clinical Veterinary Medicine (CVM) · Doctoral Programme in Drug Research (DPDR) · Doctoral Programme in Integrative Life Science (ILS) · Doctoral Programme in Oral Sciences (FINDOS) · Doctoral Programme in Population Health (DocPop) The duties of a doctoral candidate employed with a UH-funded position consist of research and formal training, with the aim of completing a doctoral degree according to the candidate’s research and study plans. In addition, the duties may include teaching and other tasks. Applicants are expected to have a relevant academic degree in a field suitable for their thesis project in life sciences and obtained before the starting date of the funded position. A successful applicant is capable of and highly motivated for working towards the doctoral degree in accordance with the proposed research plan, and has good problem solving, troubleshooting, and analytical skills. In addition, the applicant should be fluent in English, have good interpersonal and written and oral communication skills, and be able to work independently as well as within an international team. The successful applicants must obtain the right to pursue a doctoral degree from a DSHealth-associated faculty at the University of Helsinki before the starting date of the UH-funded doctoral candidate position. A statement from the supervisor of the applicant is required for the processing and evaluation of all applications.
