Two PhD positions on Predictive Analytics in Banking, Netherlands

The Data Science Centre Eindhoven (DSC/e) is TU/e’s response to the growing volume and importance of data and the need for data & process scientists (http://www.tue.nl/dsce/). Rabobank is one of the largest banks in the Netherlands. Rabobank recognizes the emerging trend of banking becoming more and more digital and data-driven and sees a good opportunity for bringing the data they have to a broad spectrum of the current state-of-the-art and yet-to-be-developed Know Your Customer (KYC) Predictive Analytics solutions. Therefore, under the umbrella of the “Data Science Impuls” program, the DSC/e and Rabobank joined forces in a research project with the aim of bringing holistic system-oriented perspective on researching and developing next generation KYC Predictive Analytics.

The general challenge in the joint research project of DSC/e and Rabobank is to automate as far as possible the process of getting customer insights for addressing internal and societal needs for preventing and mitigating cybercrime, money laundering and different kinds of fraud. It is essential to develop KYC solutions that can leverage information hidden in heterogeneous evolving data streams and provide effective means for interaction of experts with the mined knowledge from the data. The automation of the KYC process should comply with local and international regulators.
The data science team at Rabobank has an established research environment that has an access to the relevant data and knowledge about the data. Their data scientists are on premise to help with tasks like: anonymizing datasets, giving meaning to data and findings. Rabobank has a long history of human intelligence on knowing their customers. The expertise of experienced employees would be available on demand.
The DSC/e of TU/e provides its long running expertise and experience across all challenges of data science and particularly in data mining, predictive analytics, visual analytics and data engineering.
The joint project of DSC/e and Rabobank is led by Mykola Pechenizkiy and Werner van Ipenburg respectively. The two PhDs will join the Department of Computer Science, Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e). Both PhDs will closely collaborate and spend significant time within the Data Science team of Rabobank.
