The Graduate School of Life Sciences is offering Ph.D. fellowships for international candidates. These fellowships include financial support as well as a budget for travel costs, consumables and similar expenses. The University of Würzburg provides a world class environment of research institutions, which have a long and successful tradition of cooperation across faculties. The Graduate School of Life Sciences (GSLS) provides structured doctoral research training in a highly interdisciplinary research environment. Researchers are required to have a very good active knowledge of English or German language. Course Level: Fellowships are available for Ph.D. program at the University of Würzburg. Study Subject: Fellowships are awarded to study the subjects at the Graduate School of Life Sciences. Scholarship Award: These fellowships include financial support as well as a budget for travel costs, consumables, and similar expenses. An international (working language English) and widely visible research environment A fellowship for three years provided by the GSLS and the host laboratory Your own research grant covering research expenses of your PhD project and travel money to attend conferences (5000 EUR/year) granted for at least one year The freedom to choose your lab, project and mentors – provided that there is mutual agreement – in one of the sections of the GSLS Continuous supervision and mentoring by a thesis committee of three principal investigators (including a special mentoring program for female doctoral researchers) A strong network of peers Advanced scientific and professional skills training Scholarship can be taken in the Germany Eligibility: To apply for this fellowship applicant must have Passion for and practical experience in research A clear understanding of what you want to work on An excellent university degree obtained in a life sciences subject within the last two years, usually an M.Sc. or Diploma; if graduation is expected by January 2017 at the latest you may apply Proven excellent oral and written English proficiency (this will also be assessed during interview) and willingness to learn basic German (training provided) Eagerness to work in an interdisciplinary and international environment Nationality: The fellowships are open for German and international candidates. College Admission Requirement Entrance Requirement: Researchers are required to possess one of the following academic degrees: Sc. degree (or German diploma) with experimental thesis work in one of the following subjects: Biochemistry, Biology, Biomedicine, Chemistry, Food Chemistry, Physics, Psychology in conjunction with natural sciences – for courses in related subjects please inquire with our office – Note: Not all foreign degrees are considered equivalent / sufficient. Erste Staatsprüfung Biology, Chemistry or Physics or Zweiter Prüfungsabschnitt der Pharmazeutischen Prüfung MD (Dr. med.) and completed graduation in Begleitstudiengang Experimentelle Medizin (or similar) MD (Dr. med.) or Dental MD (Dr. med. dent.) is sufficient for the admission to the MD/PhD program only Test Requirement: No English Language Requirement: Researchers are required to have a very good active knowledge of the English or German language.
