Regional Master’s Program in Peace Studies, Univ. of #Belgrade

University of Belgrade – Faculty of Political Sciences is pleased to announce the call for applications for the regional master’s program in peace studies. The Regional Master’s Program in Peace Studies consists of two semesters, each carrying 30 ECTS credits. Upon completing both semesters, and attaining 60 ECTS – 12 of which are attained by writing and defending the master’s thesis – the student will be awarded the title Master of Arts (MA).

When to Apply?
Third applications call for enrolment in 2016/17 will open on the 1st of September and close on the 20th of September.

Program Content
The Regional Master’s Program in Peace Studies is an advanced inter-disciplinary program designed for both students and practitioners, offering an expertise in several specialized fields: Conflict Resolution, Peace and Development, Regional Security.

This program is the first regional master’s program in Peace Studies, providing a unique perspective and high-quality education combining resource persons from the region and Western Europe. Encompassing scientific achievements of various disciplines, including political science, sociology, history, anthropology, psychology, and philosophy, it represents a crucial contribution toward advancing understanding of various interstate and international conflicts, as well as of some of today’s key global social and geopolitical problems. Besides enhancing theoretical and methodological capacities in the area of peace and conflict studies, the program offers students an opportunity for independent research and option to take part in collaborative problem-solving projects.

The overarching aim of the program is to enable students to develop their theoretical knowledge, diagnostic capacities, and practical skills related to preventing and resolving complex conflicts. By completing this master’s program, students will be simultaneously empowered as researchers and practitioners.

The Master program is taught in English language.

The program offers state sponsored scholarships (quota system) and scholarships awarded by the OSCE Mission in Serbia (merit based)

Entrance Requirements

To be admitted to the Regional Master’s Program in Peace Studies, students must:

hold a Bachelor’s academic degree (240 ECTS)
be proficient in the English language
Interested applicants must submit the following documents:

a completed application form (available on the website www.see-peace.net)
a certified copy of a diploma obtained at the undergraduate level
diploma supplements (if applicable)
CV (one page)
a motivation letter indicating applicant’s research interest (up to 1000 words)

Tuition Fee
1,500 EUR in Serbian dinars payable in four instalments. The tuition fee covers all costs of a two-semester studying at the University of Belgrade (Please note students with foreign diploma pay additional 90 EUR University fee for the recognition of foreign documents.
