Onassis Foundation Postdoctoral Research Fellow: “The Greek Diaspora Project at SEESOX”

The Department of Politics and International Relations (DPIR) in association with the South East European Studies at Oxford (SEESOX) is looking for a Post-Doctoral Research Fellow to engage in advanced research on the politics, economy and society of Greece, supporting a new SEESOX project entitled “The Greek Diaspora Project: Homeland Ties in Times of Crisis”.

This exciting project will highlight, assess and analyse selective themes such as brain drain, social entrepreneurship, electoral and local politics, philanthropy, and the diaspora’s influence in the fields of education, health or culture.

As well as participating in the research activities of the department and the SEESOX programme and the dissemination of the research output, the successful candidate will assist the Project Director, Dr Othon Anastasakis, in the setting up and the subsequent organisation and co-ordination of the project.

Further duties of the Research Fellow will include supporting the Project Director in the academic and practical organisation of workshops and conferences on the Greek Diaspora Project, to be held in and outside Oxford; and to assist in further fundraising and project design for this programme at SEESOX.

The successful candidate will hold a doctoral degree (or be close to completing a PhD) in political science, international relations or a related field, will have a track record of research of an internationally excellent standard in the field of politics and policy-making related to contemporary Greece, and a demonstrable experience in project management.

This post will be part-time, on average 26 hours per week, and is fixed term for the period of three years, starting on 1st November 2016 or as soon as possible thereafter. The Onassis Foundation Research Fellow will be located within the European Studies Centre, St Antony’s College at Oxford.
